When I was in college, I wandered into a tent invited by a friend…where a Christian concert and church service were being held.
That’s where I not only accepted the Lord, but I received powerful teaching for over a decade from Pastor Chuck Smith and some of the great Bible teachers.
Pastor Chuck integrated cultural and political issues but always – the Bible – was the primary emphasis.
The Bible studies were always relevant to today – a reflection of history and current politics helped make it very relevant.
The Jesus movement revival of the 1970’s often is attributed to what happened out of Cavalry Chapel – Costa Mesa.
Do you have a favorite pastor?
Chuck’s reach included planting churches, a large radio/tv ministry worldwide, and author of many books.
Pastor Chuck died on October 2, 2013.
But here is a tremendous tribute to him.
After I had accepted Christ as my personal Savior, I was baptized in Pirates Cove in Newport Beach.
Because Calvary Chapel was close to the ocean and Pastor Chuck loved the ocean and surfing – this incredible tribute was made to him.
This should be a blessing to you – whether you knew Pastor Chuck or not.
It’s about 2 minutes and 30 seconds long. Click HERE to watch the video.
