Christians and Same-Sex Marriage

As we see our society becoming more secular—a post-Christian society—we see cultural “Christian” values slipping, too:

  • There is a growing number of “Nones”, men and women with no religious affiliation or faith.
  • The media has taken on an overtly anti-Christian bent
  • The schools teach the kids to be secular and oppose Christian values.

True Christianity is being marginalized.

But even though society shifts, Biblical truth does not.

But some pastors and Christian authorities are not standing firm for the Gospel and Biblical truth.

They are conforming to the world instead of God’s Word.

Consider these examples.

  1. Christian author Glennon Doyle Melton announced that she is dating Abby Wambacy.
  2. Another Christian writer, Elizabeth Gilbert is also dating her female best friend.
  3. Jen Hatmaker has announced with her husband Brandon that they support same-sex marriage.
  4. Evangelical leaders like Richard Cizik, Dr. David Gushee, and Randy Thomas signaled their support for the Supreme Court’s gay marriage ruling in 2015, too.

Many churches are now affirming same-sex marriage, homosexuality, and transgenderism, as well as opening weddings, baby dedications, and ordination into ministry regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

However, no matter what is happening, popularity cannot be the final test for truth.

Of course, proponents of same-sex marriage claim that this is a new step on the arch towards progress.

Actually, same-sex “marriages” have been around since the ancient Greeks and Romans. Emperors routinely “married” male lovers, for example.

Same-sex marriage was eventually outlawed as the new Christian ethic emerged, one which welcomed sex only within the confines of marriage between one man and one woman.

Then as now, Christians have been counter-cultural, standing up to a world given away to sin and shame. Christians must not settle, but rather speak out, share the Gospel, and stand for Biblical truth.

  1. This Catholic agrees. It saddens me to see what’s happening to our society and youth. Too many people no longer care what’s right vs wrong, good vs evil. Troubling for sure.

  2. Yes, true Christians must stand by God’s word! That is the real truth God has given us! And, it is written clearly in His word about homosexuality! It can not be misconstrued! I refuse to say that it is honorable before God! People that practice these things are honoring their own lusts. We must pray for these self-professing christians to come away from these and all sins before they face the judgements of Christ! Stay strong in God’s word! Do not cave in to society!

  3. Scripture condemns those who claim to be followers of Christ and yet call what God calls evil good. These people are NOT followers of Christ, but wolves in sheep’s clothing. 1 John 2:18-20 states; “Children, it is the last hour; and just as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19They went out from us, but they did not belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But their departure made it clear that none of them belonged to us. 20You, however, have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.” And 2nd Peter: 19-21 states: “19They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves to corruption. For a man is a slave to whatever has overcome him. 20If indeed they have escaped the corruption of the world through their knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, only to be entangled and overcome by it again, their final condition is worse than it was at first. 21It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and turned away from the holy commandment passed on to them.” If God calls these people false prophets and wolves in sheep’s clothing, then that means that is what they are. You CANNOT be a follower of Christ and a follower of Satan, who is the mastermind behind this wickedness called homosexuality…

    1. Now more than ever, it is important for us to stand our ground for what is right. Thanks for this point.

  4. If Catholic church gives up, then it’s final stage. Ireland voted for gay marriage already. I think only Polish Catholic still firms on this issue. In America, some liberal Catholics are sneakily spread this issue in the name of ‘compassion’. The priests no more preach this issue in the church and their liturgies.

Who expected this is the unavoidable issue for almost everyone?

The Texan Gaines family in H&G TV finally confront this issue for their destiny.
Please let them leave alone but this modern liberal fascists want to destroy this classic traditional family life style. Full of jealousy and envy. Sound familiar? I mean the evil story in Genesis.

  5. I am not Catholic. I am protestant and I believe there are now many churches and denominations going with the agreement of gay marriage and homosexuals dating, living together and even homosexuals being organized while practicing open homosexuality. The Bible is very firm on it’s stand against this. It is difficult to understand what the basis for these churches’ decision to accept and practice this debauchery. God will not smile upon this.
