Heads Spinning: 12 Shocking Things Every Christian Should Know About U.S. Embassy Moving to Jerusalem

The world is in shock because of Donald Trump… Boldly, defiantly and dramatically declaring that the U.S. is moving its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

This is historic…this is monumental.

The backlash against this major disruption in foreign policy is coming from:

  • The media
  • The Deep State and professional politicians
  • The Palestinians
  • The anti-Jewish/pro-Muslim/anti-Semitic groups

All of these are in utter shock that the president would dare fulfill a campaign promise.

Who does that? What candidate actually does what he says once he’s elected?

Their heads are spinning in anger and disbelief…they can’t believe it.

But that’s what President Trump promised when he was running for president, and that’s what he delivered to the American people and to the world.

Once again, President Trump disrupted politics as usual, against all odds and intense opposition from the State Department, the political establishment, and world leaders. He did what was right.

Here are 12 things you should know about this powerful disruption in politics as usual:

  1. Trump the Disruptor. In 1995, Congress overwhelmingly passed the Jerusalem Embassy Relocation Act which required the State Department to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem by May 31st, 1999.

A provision in the legislation allowed the president to sign a waiver, delaying the move by 6 months for national security reasons.

Presidents Clinton, Bush and Obama signed the waiver every 6 months throughout their administrations.

They promised during their campaigns that they would honor the law and move the embassy….but none of them delivered on that promise.

President Trump is determined to honor his campaign promise and to stop ignoring the law.

  1. It’s time. President Trump said, “I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. This is a long overdue step to advance the peace process today, and we finally acknowledge the obvious… This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It’s also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.”
  2. Sadly, the move won’t be immediate. For whatever reason, the intention is to have a 2- to 3-year process.
  3. Finally, the U.S. is doing something pro-Israel. Over the last 8 years, an increasing amount of anti-Israel policy has come out of Washington. Said President Trump, “Jerusalem is not just the heart of 3 great religions, but it is now also the heart of one of the most successful democracies in the world… Israel is a sovereign nation with a right, like every other sovereign nation, to determine its own capital.”
  4. Israel’s response to President Trump’s announcement was to light up the city walls. Here is Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement of gratitude:

  1. The world’s response has been one of disdain, anger and opposition. And that was to be expected…no one is surprised. Most Americans aren’t familiar with how violently anti-Semitic the Middle East is, nor how many of the European nations go along with that. Even companies like BMW won’t say “Israel” on a map of the world showing its dealerships – it says Palestine instead.

Hamas, the terrorist group, has declared a 3-day “rage.”

  1. The media response: anger, disgust, disbelief. Talking head after talking head is decrying the move as being wrong.

Don’t believe it. This was a smart move and it’s being done right.

  1. Progressive politicians’ response: They’ve taken to the floor of Congress, they’re on TV, they’re in town halls – all saying this is wrong. But they are wrong. It’s the right move.
  2. The Deep State response: The resistance among the Department of State personnel and others is to drag their feet and torpedo this, to have internal clashes on this.

President Trump has to fight this. We Americans must insist the Deep State not win.

  1. Some say this is the end of peace talks. What peace talks? We’ve said for a long time that as Hamas and the Palestinian Authority support terrorism and teach hatred of Jews, and won’t recognize the state of Israel, there can be no peace negotiations.

No progress has been made over the years with this flawed policy of appeasement to the Palestinians, and delaying moving our embassy.

This move could push something positive to take place. President Trump argued that failing to move our embassy has done nothing to move the region closer to a peace agreement. As he said, “We cannot solve our problems by making the same failed assumptions and repeating the same failed strategies of the past. Old challenges demand new approaches. The record is in: after two decades of waivers, we are no closer to a peace agreement.”

The president said he’s committed to the peace process, and will support a 2-state solution as long as both the Israelis and the Palestinians agree to it.

  1. Expect threats and violence. Terrorism cannot dictate the right thing to do.
  2. What should be our response? Thank President Trump and Secretary of State Tillerson. Tell them they did the right thing. This is important because all they are hearing is criticism.

And most important, pray for the peace of Israel. This seemed like an impossibility, but it’s now becoming a reality. We need to make sure that this promise is kept and that nothing interferes with making it happen.

  1. AMEN to this historic and overdue process of estableshing JERUSALÉN as ISRAEL’S capital!
In God’s eyes it’s always been the chosen nation’s most important city, and likewise her capital for centuries. May this be fulfilled like the Bible says: “not only hearers of my Word, but doers..(also)”. Karl

  2. Smart move! Although there are many fighting it, many blessing will follow from this decision. There is something to be said about a man who keeps his word. Trump is such a man and this needs to be recognized. Give honor to whom honor is due. Your opinions complaints and griping are not going to make things better. Get rid of all bitterness and let the love of God transform your heart. Then you will have peace that transcends all understanding. Pray for our president and all our leaders to be led of God. Israel is the apple of God’s eye. Let us keep praying for the peace of Jerusalem, our nation, our enemies and one another as the Bible instructs us to do, this is the way to Shalom.
