Bernie Sanders attacked every Christian and biblical belief in a televised Senate hearing:
What he said requires an apology to every Christian and to every freedom-loving American, regardless of their world view.
What he said was unconstitutional. And just plain wrong.
It all started when President Trump nominated Russell Vought as deputy director of the White House Office of Management and Budget.
Russell Vought is a brilliant economist … and a committed Christian – an alumnus of Wheaton College.
During the senate hearing, everyone expected the focus would be on his economic views.
But not Bernie Sanders.
Sanders went on an aggressive attack in Vought’s Christian faith.
Sanders called it “hateful”, “indefensible” and “insult.”
In the video below, you’ll see Sanders rage turning his face red as he accused Vought of being an Islamaphobe for believing what scripture teaches about salvation.
But Sanders’ intolerance is what stood out.
Vought would not back down on his Biblical beliefs and explained that he believes every person is made in the image of God, but that Christianity teaches that Jesus Christ is the one way to salvation and heaven.
Sanders displayed contempt and hate.
Look at part of the exchange:
Sanders: I don’t know how many Muslims there are in America, I really don’t know, probable a couple million. Are you suggesting that all those people stand condemned? What about Jews? Do they stand condemned too?
Vought: Senator, I am a Christian…
Sanders: I understand that you are a Christian. But this country is made up of people who are not just – I understand that Christianity is the majority religion. But there are other people who have different religions in this country and around the world. In your judgement, do you think that people who are not Christians are going to be condemned?
The discussion began centered around a blog post over Wheaton Colleges’ theological position on Muslims.
Last year, Vought wrote a blog post in which he stated, “Muslims do not simply have a deficient theology. They do not know God because they have rejected Jesus Christ his Son, and they stand condemned.”
As you’ll see with video, Vought isn’t given much of an opportunity to respond on an issue that should not have some up.
You see Article VI of the U.S. Constitution says:
“No religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
Sanders has no right to oppose Vought’s nomination based on the candidate’s personal religious beliefs. The senator’s position is clearly unconstitutional.
Sanders religious test violates the Constitutional protection we enjoy.
Indeed, by Sanders opinion, no Christian could hold office, not even Jesus.
The Word of God clearly says:
“Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God” (John 3:18).
And, of course, Muslims disagree:
Muslims, while they consider Jesus to be a great prophet, emphatically deny that he is the Son of God: “Jesus was no more than a mortal whom Allah favored and made an example to the Israelites” (Qur’an 43:59).
As Christians, we can’t back down from Biblical truth.
But opposition from Bernie Sanders and other liberal/socialists are escalating.
They believe in a tolerance for themselves, but intolerance for others.
They demand that Christians be quiet … Don’t vote your faith, say your faith or encourage others to believe your faith.
