Amazon is once again discriminating against Christian organizations…
Let me explain…
The AmazonSmile program is a simple and automatic way for Amazon.com shoppers to donate 0.5% of their online purchase prices to their favorite charity.
Amazon says that when you register at smile.amazon.com, you can select from over one million eligible public charitable organizations to support…
The Christian-based legal defense group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) used to be one on those one-million-plus charitable organizations.
But not anymore…
Because Amazon consults the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to determine which 501(c)(3) organizations are “eligible” … and the SPLC has labeled The Alliance Defending Freedom as a hate group.
Because the ADF – founded in 1994 – supports causes and court cases related to religious freedom … the pro-life position … and biblical marriage and family.
The SPLC despises moral positions it disagrees with.
ADF President Michael Ferris describes the SPLC this way:
“Although the SPLC did good work many years ago, it has devolved into a far-left propaganda machine that slanders organizations with which it disagrees and destroys the possibility of civil discourse in the process…. Once the SPLC identifies an ideological opponent, its goal is to ruin them.”
SPLC Senior Fellow Mark Potok didn’t disagree when he stated:
“Sometimes the press will describe us as monitoring hate crimes and so on…. I want to say plainly that our aim is to destroy these groups, to completely destroy them.”
Michael Ferris has offered to work with Amazon to develop guidelines to prevent legitimate faith-based charitable organizations from being excluded from AmazonSmile in the future.
