The National Day of Prayer is the 1st Thursday in May each year…

The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress under President Harry S. Truman.

The law was unanimously amended in 1988 by both House and Senate … and signed by President Ronald Reagan on Thursday, May 5th of that year.

The amended law designated the 1st Thursday in May each year as the day of national prayer.

Here’s the National Day of Prayer’s web site:

The theme for this year is Pray for America – Unity … based on Ephesians 4:3, “…being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” (NASB)

If you click the “Events” tab on the menu bar, you can enter your city, state and zip code on the “Find an Event Near You” button … and see a list of local National Day of Prayer events in your area.

If you happen to live near the Torrance area in southern California, there will be an event from 6:30 to 8:00pm at the Toyota Meeting Hall, 3330 Civic Center Drive, Torrance, CA 90503.

Whether or not you attend a local event in your area, please pray for our nation on May 3rd next week…

In fact, pray for our nation and for our national government leaders every day…
