65% Living Together Before Marriage Right Now—The Coming Consequences

As a singles pastor, I saw study after study and so many life examples of how living together outside of marriage destroys the relationship after the marriage.

84% of those living together before marriage ended up divorcing after marriage.

That’s against the 40% who get married before they live together.

Cohabitation is contrary to God’s Word. God is the maker of relationships.

For churches, this means many attending your church, group studies, and small groups will be cohabiting.

What will your pastor say about marriage?

For marriage counseling, wisdom on why not to cohabitate needs to be articulated. Are church leaders prepared?

As Christians, we must defend marriage as God’s best and in love be able to be clear about God’s will.

  1. Wow! If result is that high, it’s very serious issue. Thank you for the important report.

Easy come, easy go. Easy meet, easy break. Psychologically something like that.

If it is one of causes creating society into so many broken families, it’s too sad.
I agree churches have to tackle the issue seriously.

  2. I think there is an error in this statement:

“84% of those living together before marriage ended up divorcing after marriage.

That’s against the 40% who don’t get married before they live together.”

Don’t you mean 40% who don’t live together before they get married? Am I missing something?
