Disturbing Revelations About Christians and the 2016 Election

The Election 2016 Presidential primary race is getting tighter, with the front-runners working harder to maintain their leading status.

And yet a lot of Evangelicals are not voting, or they are voting for candidates who do not reflect their values. All of this in spite of unprecedented TV ratingS for the Presidential debates, huge crowds attending campaign rallies, and the record-breaking number of voters attending caucuses and primaries.

In fact, Evangelicals still rank as the least engaged of all prospective voter groups.

Only 20% say they are following the campaigns closely. Catholics were more engaged than Protestants (38% vs. 26%)

41% of non-Christian (Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist) report the highest engagement.

Atheists and skeptics also registered higher: 36%

What about the Presidential candidates?

The Democrats:

Bernie Sanders is catching up to Hillary Clinton. But it’s almost impossible for the socialist to beat her. Despite Clinton’s heavy lead based on Superdelegates, many of them can still switch over to Sanders.

The Republicans:

Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are still fighting for the nomination. John Kasich’s campaign still continues.

The campaign will probably be decided in the June primary for California.

The current results of our Christian Presidential poll are now:

Ted Cruz: 63%

Donald Trump: 16%

John Kasich: 1%

Hillary Clinton: 0.25%

Bernie Sanders: 0.25%

Others: [No Longer Running]: 20%

Have you voted in our Presidential poll? If not, please vote right here!

  1. Why is Evangelical turnout so low?

Because the large majority of church leadership is in fear of the IRS. They are so afraid to say anything that they are in fear of losing the tax exempt status. You know what? I don’t think God cares one iota about the church’s tax exempt status. Did not Jesus say “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s”? Therefore, I place the majority of the blame on poor turnout on the church leadership.

    How can we change it?

There has to be a revival in this nation and it must start first with the church leadership. Part of the revival will require retraining of the leadership’s mind that our US Constitution is our Romans 13 authority.

Here is my essay on the topic: http://davidwgray.com/Render-to-the-Constitution-and-to-God.htm

    1. David Gray, you are exactly right. Fear of saying anything “political” is what keeps Pastors from talking about it from the pulpit. The First Amendment does not preclude Pastors from talking about politics, as long as they don’t endorse anybody. Pastors are always talking about not being fearful of talking about Jesus, but they have fear of talking about elections and voting! We’re not supposed to have fear of ANYTHING.

  2. Please Craig, re-post the do’s and don’ts for churches and their non profit status in regard to voting and this Presidential campaign. Let’s bring them to our local churches along with voting registrations.
    Thanks.
    Vicki

  3. Christians tend to be all talk and no walk when it comes to defending their religious and economic freedom. Jesus never preached that we should not engage in protecting our rights by voting.

For the life of me, I find it hard to image why we as Christians would stand by and watch as our do nothing PREZ allows ISIS and other terrorist groups to hold the world hostage, while proclaiming that the biggest threat to the word is “Global Warming” And his actions support the notion that he truly not a suuporter of Israel or Christians.

It is time to get our act together and fight for our freedom. Remember Freedom is not free. Many have died in order to protect the liberties we have today.

  4. I am not voting for trump. He is totally contrary to Christian values. He’s out for himself.
I am not voting for clinton. She is contrary to God’s concerns and Christian values. I would vote for Ted Cruz and him only. He will protect our constitution and freedom of religion. He is a serious Christian advocate.

  5. I believe Christian’s do not have a candidate to vote for thus far. I did vote for Cruz in the primary. First time even for me to vote in the primary. I always waited for November. But it was crucial to vote in the primary this time. Actually it was a case of urgency.

  6. My candidate was Ben Carson. I have watched all the debates and primaries and caucus’s As a Christian ( I guess y ou would call me an Evangelical) Ben Carson was and is the only true Christian in my book. I was going to throw support to Ted Cruz if Ben Carson bowed out but I am so disappointed with the way he cheated stealing votes and the way he is running his comp.
I am disappointed.. I am 88 years old been interested in elections all my life , also have been a republican all my voting years, and disappointed in the actions of the National Rep. Committee. to the point that I am ready to change my registration to independent. Also , please to not put the blame on our churches. They are to teach us our Christian values, not to tell us how to vote!

  7. YES! It is the church’s leadership’s fault; if you can call America’s lukewarm church, the church. Do they teach & live 100% discipleship? GOD’S JUDGMENT IS COMING SHORTLY FOR AMERICA, PERIOD! We have crossed the line with God & we will reap for our sin & turning from God. It no longer matters how much prayer we do for when Prophets say its coming; then it’s coming even if they are in the middle of it like Jeremiah. God rose up pagan nations, Assyria & Babylon, to destroy completely Israel & Judah & foreign nations are already in our country doing acts of terror that will greatly increase. Moses said to the Hebrews (but it is true for any Nation that knew God & turned from HIM) Lev 26:14-17 AMP “But if you will not hearken to ME & will not do all these commandments, & if you spurn {and} despise MY statutes, & if your soul despises {&} rejects MY ordinances, so that you will not do all MY commandments, but break MY covenant, I will do this: I will appoint over you [sudden] terror (trembling, trouble), even consumption & fever that consume {&} waste the eyes & make the [physical] life pine away. You shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. I [the Lord] will set MY face against you & you shall be defeated {&} slain before your enemies; they who hate you shall rule over you; you shall flee when no one pursues you.” This is coming to pass! The only time a National Judgment was stayed by God is when Nineveh repented & fasted from the King (in our land, the President) & all the government officials to all the citizens. Jesus said HE will return when the Earth is like the Days of Noah & Lot. One of total sodomy! Open your eyes, its here & increasing! I have been preaching this message of Judgment to America for 47 years from Alaska to D.C. & there are many more before me & there will continue to be many until the actual return of Christ to slaughter the armies of the world & to set up HIS eternal Kingdom. American Christians are really at fault due to our lukewarmness & willful sin. Ignorant sin is one thing to God but continued willful sin is another thing! American Christians live a selfish, unrestrained, pleasurable, & comfortable life of continual sin in many areas of their life (I know because I was a prophesying Pharisee myself for many a year & was amongst the church). Here is how probably Paul puts it, Heb 10:26-31 AMP “For if we go on deliberately {and} willingly sinning after once acquiring the knowledge of the Truth, there is no longer any sacrifice left to atone for [our] sins [no further offering to which to look forward]. [There is nothing left for us then] but a kind of awful {and} fearful prospect {and} expectation of divine judgment and the fury of burning wrath {and} indignation which will consume those who put themselves in opposition [to God]. Any person who has violated {&} [thus] rejected {and} set at naught the Law of Moses is put to death without pity {or} mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse (sterner and heavier) punishment do you suppose he will be judged to deserve who has spurned {and} [thus] trampled underfoot the Son of God, and who has considered the covenant blood by which he was consecrated common {and} unhallowed, thus profaning it {and} insulting {and} outraging the [Holy] Spirit [Who imparts] grace (the unmerited favor and blessing of God)? For we know HIM Who said, Vengeance is MINE [retribution and the meting out of full justice rest with ME]; I will repay [I will exact the compensation], {says the Lord.} And again, The Lord will judge {and} determine {and} solve {and} settle the cause {and} the cases of HIS people. It is a fearful (formidable and terrible) thing to incur the divine penalties {and} be cast into the hands of the living God!” So, what is the true Voice of God saying today to Americans — that they are going to be destroyed & that true believers need to get ready for destruction, as well, & that they need to get their souls ready for the coming of the Lord by getting out of the American whoring church (Rev. 18:41) & live a 24-7 fully selfless life to love God & others as being a real disciple. 8. IAM a Christian (in fact, that is my name). Since the very beginning I favored Trump and Ted Cruz as the candidates of my choice and would like Trump as president, Cruz as Attorney General both to fight for Christians. Most have absoulutely misjudged Trump. I have studied him for years and know he is totally being discerned incorrectly. Cruz is too aggressive and he is showing some stripes I do not like. Don’t kid yourself, he must have known about the lies being told in the Iowa caucuses. He has spit out some deliberate misinformation and characterizations alot since then. He has a problem now (in my humble opinion) with his demonstration. Lawyers learned to be quite aggressive and spin Truth which is not good. Do your homework and you might change your mind. Just sayin’
I also don’t believe Christians are absent in the way you speak. Can you not see and absolute wave of revival in this country. You are missing something if you do not. Yes. it also is an anger over where our leaders have taken us abut it is also about rising up (Easter) and taking it back from them. The democrats just are in total denial about who their candidates are and where they are trying to go. That is not us.

  9. I totally agree w/Dave Gray. The church was never meant to be subjugated to the government and there will be no revival until we are out from under the 501c3 status. The church has been corrupted by fear and greed. Lord help us. The key in the election is who is going to glorify God and who is going to select Scalia’s replacement/future judges. Ted Cruz, although not perfect himself, is perfect for this role with his law background. I’m currently reading his “A Time for Truth”. I highly recommend it for those believers politically minded.

  10. From some of the above comments it appears to me that many Christians refuse to take personal responsibility for their (lack) of actions and blame it on the church leadership. We all make our own decisions. We are all responsible for them. I’m going to vote for Trump just because he is the only candidate that has been able to break the wall of silence in the media on issues no one else can even mention. If it takes a Billionaire to get our voice heard, well that’s the way it is. If you disagree then you better get off your apathy and counter my vote.

  11. I find it hard to believe that Christian political participation is so low, but if it is true, then there are several possibilities which I don’t have the time to list. I’d like to complain however, that people who call themselves Christian are Christian in name only if they don’t study the Bible, and of course it would therefore follow that they are either so ignorant or so lacking in wisdom as to how to discern the truth or falsity of what is going on in the world, and so unsure of themselves as to what to so about it, or who to vote for. And as for those who may feel that they cannot vote for anybody who is less than a perfect Christian as if they will be judged by God, you need to understand that if you don’t vote for the lesser of two evils, then the greater of the two evils will fill the vacuum. As for me, I’m voting for Trump, because until he came along, I have never heard any candidate speak so loudly and urgently about bring our manufacturing jobs back from overseas. We have tried the Free Trade/ Service Economy now since the 1980’s and look where we are at. Without an industrial base, we have no foundation to our economy and no other large sector for wealth creation for the middle class. We need to reject the Free Trade orthodoxy, and as Trump said, being the author of “The Art of the Deal”, we need to nullify the old trade deals and do what is best for America. Our political class has become Globalist in their outlook and policies, but we need someone who has a vigorous America First policy, and it is strikingly evident that Donald Trump has demonstrated that he has the guts to push his agenda without being cowed by the media and everybody else who obviously must have a strong interest in not letting him upset the apple cart. And with all the people who are against him, you mean to tell me that Christians can’t tell who the bad guys are and who the good guy is? The world has always persecuted the good guys. God works in mysterious ways and uses imperfect people to do His will, and I see Donald Trump as a gift from God. Trump is obviously not the best example of a Christian, but he obviously does NEED to be President to make a living, he has stuck himself out there to be examined and picked apart by the world, he loves America, and speaks and talks like any normal citizen, unlike Ted Cruz who sounds like the stereotypical, disingenuous snake-oil salesman of yesteryear, while speaking in an intellectually condescending tone and lawyerly parsing the truth. People, this guy has no chance of getting elected by the average American, and the Hillary Clinton media machine or Bernie Sanders will eat him alive in the general election.

  12. Correction: “Trump is obviously not the best example of a Christian, but he obviously does [NOT] NEED to be President to make a living”

  13. With high favorability numbers for Ted Cruz in this poll, I really have to wonder how many voted to him because they thought it was the politically correct thing to do. The early primary polls show Trump ahead.

Hmmm. Is Crux polling well because he won in Utah where a good many of his votes came from Mormons believers?

Ken Stull is right. Trump is the right man NOW for America. Cruz and Kasich are the same old wind-bags that appear every time there is an election.

We all know God raises the leaders he wants and you are telling me you know who God wants as president? In almost in every case He raised leaders in the O.T. for His purposes, not who the people wanted. He knows what was best for His people. Donald Trump may be the man He wants as the next president of the United States of America. After all, look at all God has done so far. God didn’t stray from His principles, we strayed from His principles.

The Bible is replete with examples of people suffering for their wrongs (Jude 7). That may be why Trump has been doing so well. I would not bet against it.

  14. People don’t study their bible. Which explains why they believe Cruz is a Christian when the fact is he’s in a false cult founded in 1975. As far as the church worried about taxes shame on them that shows no faith whatsoever ! This is exactly why I don’t go to church . You walk in they are selling coffee all speaking in tongues everything Jesus said not to do! When I try t go to church I feel no presence of God in them! This world is lost! Starting with claiming Christians!!! If it were not so their prays would be heard and answered! People need to wake up!!!!

    1. The tax free status of churches has a lot to do with it. Churches are afraid of doing anything that might attract the attention of the IRS. Another problem even for those who do study the Bible is the fatalistic way Bible prophecy is used. The idea that there is nothing that can be done and that God is in control. Jesus taught us to pray that the Father’s will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven, which to me implies not everything happening is God’s will and He is not in control of everything at present. Of course there is also the problem that there are no candidates who really totally support Biblical values.

  15. I believe what John Kaye mentioned in his post. Church Leaders are afraid to speak the truth from Scripture because people will be offended. I also believe that they do not want to lose their tax exempt status. They are all afraid to be direct. Jesus was very direct and spoke with authority. He was all-merciful and all-forgiving but He still requires obedience from us. I don’t think all leaders emphasize this message.
