Persecution of Christians
More slaughter in Darfur
It's disheartening to note that the government of Sudan is still refusing to allow the deployment of 21,000 U.N. peacekeeping forces in Darfur to stop the horrible massacres.
Since fighting began in 2003, 450,000 innocent people have been killed and two million have lost their homes. Intervention of the genocide has been stalled in "diplomatic talk" at the U.N. for 3½ years, while people are being murdered.
Pray for the people of Darfur. Ask God to protect the Christians from being butchered and losing their lives. Pray for God's word to soften hardened hearts. Pray that God's people will send food, medical attention and the Gospel to these needy people.
Persecution in North Korea
Christians in communist North Korea still meet to worship God. But only in groups of three or four, and only in secret.
Going to a meeting means risking death. There is great danger in letting children know you're a follower of Christ. And those who go to jail for Christian worship receive sentences of 15 years as "political" prisoners; however, the average life expectancy in these camps is only 5 years.
Pray for the Christian Church in North Korea!
Chinese activist put in prison
Chinese civil-rights activist Chen Guangcheng was sent to prison by Chinese authorities after voicing his opinion in Time magazine against his country's practice of forced abortions and sterilization.
The head of a conservative civil liberties organization is urging President Bush to condemn China's forced abortion policy and denounce the Chinese government's imprisonment of Guangcheng.
Did you miss "Religious Freedom Day"?
What, you didn't hear about it in the Los Angeles Times, on CNN or other liberal media?
Well, January 16 was declared Religious Freedom Day by President Bush.
"Freedom is a gift from the Almighty, written in the heart and soul of every man, woman and child.
"And we must continue to promote the importance of religious freedom at home and abroad."
