Media Bias

Liberal press loses readers

The liberal media is suffering economically from its biased reporting (and other factors). Within 6 months, the Los Angeles Times circulation dropped 8%, with Sunday's edition dropping 6%. And the San Francisco Chronicle dropped 5.3%, with Sunday's edition falling 7.3%.

This just goes to show that people want unbiased information, and if the media doesn't catch on to that soon-readership will continue to drop.

Media bias

If you have been horrified by the manipulative liberal media, it's not your imagination. Candidates and initiatives that are pro-family, pro-economic growth and in favor of protecting us from terrorism are facing two challenges-their opponents and the media.

The LA Times and most newspapers and magazines have consistently distorted the news.

In the past few months, a study was conducted of CBS, NBC and ABC news. The study indicated that 77% of reports were positive to the Democrats and 88% were negative to the Republicans.

The liberal media strikes again. It's not Feinstein against Mountjoy. No, no, no.It's the LA Times and the liberal media and Feinstein against Mountjoy.

Be careful what you watch, what you read and what you hear on the radio. The media can be very deceptive and can fool you about issues such as what propositions are really about and what candidates really represent.

Washington liberals try to silence conservatives and Christians

The Democratic liberal majority in the Senate and the House are preparing legislation that further controls and regulates the lives of Americans.

They want more laws, more rules and more and more taxes. The result is more wasteful bureaucracy, more corruption and more government programs stifling the economy.

These are two major assaults on conservatives and Christians. And they are part of a growing effort to silence ideas and beliefs liberals don't like.

Here are the latest assaults you should be aware of:

The UNFairness Doctrine is back

I remember distinctly in 1987, one of Ronald Reagan's objectives was finally realized: The "Fairness Doctrine" was repealed.

The Fairness Doctrine was an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) regulation started in 1949 requiring broadcasters to present both sides of a subjectively determined "controversial" issue.

It caused radio and TV stations to be afraid of huge fines if the station didn't provide equal time to the opposing viewpoints. This created a form of censorship.

But, starting in 1987, the talk radio boom began. Based upon ratings, it became clear that radio listeners preferred conservative and libertarian talk shows over liberal.

From the 1950s all the way to the late 1980s, the media was dominated by the liberals. For example, liberals ran the nation's largest newspapers, such as The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. The same went for TV and radio news: ABC, NBC and CBS.

But talk radio broke the monopoly of ideas and opened the media to the most popular radio personalities.

In the L.A. market, people had several choices. Some liberals were successful, such as Bill Handel of KFI and Mr. KABC on KABC. But most liberals couldn't do as well.

And now, the liberals want to force change.

At the George Soros–subsidized National Conference for Media Reform, the push to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine-and stop talk radio-began.

  • Congressman Maurice Hinchey, the new chairman of a subcommittee with jurisdiction over the FCC, has introduced the Media Ownership Reform Act, which would reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. Bottom line: Bureaucrats at the FCC will monitor the TV and radio content-in violation of the First Amendment! He thinks this will be the end of conservative and Christian broadcasts on the air, and he might be right.
  • Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont is the only openly, out-of-the-closet socialist. He is introducing a similar bill in the Senate.
  • Congressman Dennis Kucinich, chairman of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, told the audience, "We know the media has become the servant of a very narrow corporate agenda-we are now in a position to move a progressive agenda to where it is visible."
     They want:
  • Conservative talk shows off the air.
  • Christian broadcasters not to be able to say anything controversial to our culture-without a rebuttal required (no more J. Vernon McGee and other Christian programs).
Be in prayer on this one!

Liberal media bias: From subtle to nasty

The Media Research Center recently handed out its awards for the worst journalism of 2006. Here are some highlights:

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, September 11, 2006, at the World Trade Center: "Who has left this hole in the ground? We have not forgotten, Mr. President. You have. May this country forgive you."

This is almost as bad as his statement on October 18, 2006, when Olbermann said that the Bush presidency is more dangerous to our liberty than the enemy it claims to protect us from.

What? More dangerous than terrorism, communist dictators and radical Islamic countries developing weapons of mass destruction?

Another award goes to Jack Cafferty and CNN (better known as the Clinton News Network).

On May 11, 2006, Cafferty said liberal Republican and Bush critic Senator Arlen Spector (R-PA) might be the only person standing between us and a full-blown dictatorship in this country.

This is journalism?

I don't want to bore you with the crazy journalism from the liberal establishment of NBC and CBS. But let's end with the award to ABC's Diane Sawyer for her comments on October 19, 2006, at a North Korean school:

"[It is] a world away from the unruly individualism of any American school...Ask them about their country and they can't say enough." Then the clip showed a North Korean girl saying "We are the happiest children in the world."

Do we have to tell Diane that North Korea is a repressive communist dictatorship? A people-starving, Christian-killing country? A place where dissentients are jailed (or killed)? Not to mention a place that is one of the greatest dangers to world peace and freedom existing today?

The bias of the media seems to be getting worse, not better.
