Bonus!
Two new movies with strongly Christian themes—and both with an edge—opened last month.
Warrior
This movie stars Nick Nolte as an ex-boxer recovering from alcoholism who tries to reconnect with his sons through their commitment to mixed martial arts.
Warrior is from the director of Miracle (about the U.S. hockey team at the 1980 Winter Olympics). You can see the trailer here.
Courageous
This film is about four police officers facing danger on the streets while strengthening commitments to their homes and family.
Courageous is from the makers of the popular Fireproof. It opened September 30. See its trailer and more information here.
I encourage you to check them out, and tell me how they touch your hearts.

Egyptian security forces opened fire on peaceful, unarmed demonstrators on October 9—killing at least 26 and injuring more than 329 others.
Egyptian security forces drove armored vehicles into demonstrators. Muslim mobs attacked cars trying to leave, following the wounded to the hospital to continue their assaults.
Police arrested 150 Christians. For being Christians.
Coptic Christians were protesting recent violence against their community—specifically the recent destruction of a church.
Christians, about 10% of the population, have come under increasing violent attacks by hard-line Islamic groups ever since they ousted President Mubarak earlier this year.
Please pray for our dear Christian brothers and sisters persecuted in the Middle East!
Video of the attacks revealed an armored car driving into protestors and police hitting people with their arms raised. Click here to view it.
You can watch interviews with some of the wounded in the conflict by clicking here.
Graphic video of Christians who died during the violent attack can be seen here. Warning: Discretion is advised. (And it’s not for children.)

Don’t fall for it!
An email is circulating about an “official” new U.S. postage stamp to celebrate Muslims and Islamic holidays.
It’s false.
While it correctly states that the first actual stamp with Muslim themes was issued by the U. S. Postal Service (USPS) more than 10 years ago, it also claims a second is now being sold by the USPS…under President Obama’s direction.
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
No official second Muslim-themed stamp exists. President Obama did not order it.
My friends—please don’t fall for these hoaxes. Don’t forward the email.
(Note that the USPS continues to reissue the existing art with the current date and value in commemoration of the important Islamic celebrations. But it has nothing to do with any order from the President.)

As if enough people and businesses weren’t fleeing California as fast as the U-Haul can carry them…
Can you believe this? Governor Jerry Brown just enacted SB 922. It ends “fair and open competition” and terminates local government agreements allowing free competition for contract work by non-unionized companies.
It stops cities from finding the best deal—forcing them to work only with unionized companies! Either they choose one in the first place or workers at a non-union company have to join the union.
And Brown did it through the backdoor.
That’s because SB 922 started life as a bill about tuberculosis screening! But a week before its vote, that bill was “gutted” and its terms replaced with the new union rules!
You saw no debate and no hearings—with no financial scrutiny and no public input.
They changed the bill September 2, passed it a week later and signed it in early October. It took one month to destroy competition for municipal contracts!!!
That’s how they pass a bill they don’t want anyone looking at first.
So cities facing financial crisis, that had over the years enacted bans against unfair labor agreements, now must toe the line. Labor union bosses wanted action to overturn those bans.
The California State Senate President Pro Tem and Speaker of the Assembly are both former labor union bosses.
(Note: Brown also signed AB 436, forcing municipalities not already requiring unions to pay a “Labor Compliance Program” fee to the state.)
Outrageous!
