To: Judicial Candidate __________________________:

As you are well aware, getting information on judicial candidates to voters is a difficult process. The questions below are to let me help you in that task.

I am conducting half a dozen “election forums” in the coming month. At these forums, information on the judicial candidates (as well as candidates for other elected offices) is provided to those present. Each of these has a history of attendance by a minimum of five hundred people. In addition, I have over 60,000 voters on our email list who will be waiting for a recommendation on how to vote.

I have already started a schedule of multiple interviews on each of several radio stations in Southern California (KKLA, KBRT and KWVE) with the same election information presented on the air with specific endorsements.

Plus, we post the recommendations on JudgeVoterGuide.com and the ElectionForum.org websites.

The questions below cover your judicial outlook. We already have your professional biography.

1. How do you see your role as a judge? What are the principles you would use to decide a case? Do you have a judicial philosophy? What is it?
2. What well-known U.S. or California Supreme Court judge (living or dead) do you most admire and why?
3. Are there reforms you think should be made in the judicial system for which you are a candidate? Name the top 3.
4. What is the most important thing for voters to know before casting a vote in a judicial election?
5. California 2nd Court of Appeals recently overruled a pro-tem Superior Court judge’s refusal to send homeschooled children to public or private school, saying there is no constitutional right to homeschooling. It was recently vacated and will be reheard. If you were chosen for the panel to rehear the case, what approach would you take to schooling of children?
6. The California Supreme Court has heard oral arguments to legalize same sex marriage in California. As a judge, how would you go about determining how to rule?
7. Eminent domain is a hot topic in California, with two ballot measures competing to define it in California since the U.S. Supreme Court’s Kelo decision. What principles would you use to help you decide land use and rent control regulations and eminent domain takings?

Thank you for your willingness to do public service and help inform and educate voters.

Sincerely,
Craig Huey's signature
